Fe Wines
Fe (pronounced FEE) is the atomic symbol for iron, a substance that saturates our ruddy soil. Our CCOF Certified Organic Vineyard occupies an elevated bench in the narrowest stretch of the Napa Valley, amid nearly two thousand acres of untamed parkland. We are buffered by redwood, manzanita, ponderosa pine, and wild native grasses. Spring Mountain is unusual in its elevation, aspect, and diversity of rare volcanic soil types, and our two Bordeaux-style reds are, likewise, distinct yet pure expressions of our terroir.
Wines
Winemaker Aaron Pott brings a Premier Grand Cru Classé mentality and a Burgundian education to our cellar. We harvest by hand in the coolest hours of the morning, keeping the fruit chilled throughout vinification for freshness. We sort three times before crushing, then follow a gentle gravity-flow protocol. Fermentations are spontaneous and macerations are long and slow. In barrel, we stir the lees to naturally protect the wine and allow malolactic to proceed at a leisurely pace.
